studio999 is what happens when someone chronically online learns how the internet is actually built. It's the practice of Muskan Vyas, a creative engineer in New York who can only sit still when she's making something.
(about)

I'm chronically online in the most useful way: I notice when a website feels good, and I can't rest until I know why.
My first web job was at a record store in New Jersey. Then came four years at Nike on SNKRS, where sneaker drops sell out in seconds and nothing is allowed to be slow. I led the front-end on SNKRS Maps and learned that pressure doesn't make me nervous; it makes me focused.
Now I'm at ESPN, building the live game pages fans keep open through the biggest nights in sport: the NBA, the World Cup, and next, the Super Bowl.
Somewhere between an IT degree and a cognitive science degree, I realized I'd be asking two questions about everything I touch for the rest of my life: how does this work, and why does it feel like that? My day job answers the first one. studio999 is where I get to obsess over the second: no tickets, no brief, just whatever I can't stop thinking about that week.
In numerology, 999 is an ending and a beginning at the same time. I like it as a reminder that nothing I make is ever really finished. Never at 100%, always evolving. The third 9 stays quiet on purpose: it's the part you don't see, the late nights and the fifteenth version and the ideas that never ship.
I'm also a people person to an almost embarrassing degree, which is why I love freelance. I take on select projects for creatives, studios and young brands who want a site that feels like them, not like a template.
